Tiny Personal Firewall is a powerful program fine-tuned for the advanced user. You have to possess thorough knowledge of firewalls, networking and hardware to get the maximum benefit out of this potential powerhouse.
Since it is not written for common users, it is not user-friendly, and has a complex interface with numerous options and minimal guidance. Configuration and making rules is hard enough in this complex software, and the interrelated tabs and boxes take the job beyond the capacity of normal users.
Tiny Personal Firewall offers several layers of protection, including an intrusion detection system, application security, file and system protection and support for a multi-user environment.
Apart from these basic functionalities, Tiny Firewall allows you to customize all its security settings, which are Applications, Network, IDS & IPS, Windows and Activity Options of the Administration Center. You can create and edit rules, and customize each of these settings. This firewall allows users to assign read, write, create, and delete privileges to registry files. You can also set security levels on important registry files to protect against intruding viruses. Network security rules can be set to suit your network, but to do these you need an expert's understanding. You can keep any program in the blocked list or the trusted list from the activity monitoring screen.
As expected, this firewall did well in most test labs but could not gain common user's trust because of its lack of on-screen help.
